Using All the Resources You Can

MDRT and the industry as a whole offer us a variety of resources to help us in all aspects of our professional and personal lives and with them, we can surely achieve greater success.

Great tools can be found on the MDRT Web site.  From downloading MDRT logos and creating customized brochures and press releases, the MDRT client communication tools give you the means to effectively promote your business.  The press releases and a 30-minute PR consultation with MDRT’s public relations firm, Gibbs & Soell, have proven to be particularly helpful.

I have also found the abundance of trade publications to be quite helpful.  I read these whenever I can to stay up to speed on what's happening in the industry.  In addition to Round the Table, I benefit from reading Advisor Today, National Underwriter, and Life Insurance Selling.  We are truly a unique industry in the way we share information!

Dear Brian H. Ashe,

If you and I are no longer around as of last year, the world will still go on without having enough life insurance coverage for loved ones.

Lesser policies sold, in my opion may have a few possible factors.

One, the insurance company have changed their distribution channel. By lowering the commissions they have reduced the number of agents to go out and sell the product.

Second, many people don't think ahead, they don't stay together for a whole life time anymore. Or, maybe both husband and wife works, no problem if one of them is no longer around.

Third, perhaps, more money is placed on investments or spending rather than saving & insurance. It is no longer, save first and spend the rest.

Dear Brian, if you and I stop going around to promote the benefit of life insurance, saving & investments, more people may have less for the future.

I was really encouraged to know that an MDRT member at age of 94, he said, lets go and sell life insurance. He was one of the Main Platform Speakers during the Annual Meeting recently.

Brad is right to point out that our industry has more sharing of experience. It is especially so in MDRT, Life Underwriter Association.

Many speakers from USA & Canada, UK, Australia came to Singapore, they are members of the MDRT. The Committment of the speakers who traveled all the way to the east has helped to share the benefits of Life Insurance and it has helped us to do it with passion.

I would be interested in responses from fellow bloggers as to why they think that less life insurance and fewer policies are sold in the U.S now than 15 years ago, even though the number of households with children has increased? Are people not interested? Does the industry do a bad job of communicating needs? Is training of agents the reason? Is the product too mundane?
