“Mentoring helps advisors alter their mindset. It’s not system or product training. It’s more about how the advisor looks at himself than it is about products or a sales system.”This is what I told my aspirant, Wendell Mohs, as I explained the MDRT mentoring program.
Over the time that I’ve mentored Wendell, I’ve shared many things with him.I’ve helped him improve his work behavior and how he manages his week, how he thinks about who he is and what he does, and to think bigger.
It is truly a joy to watch another agent grow and become more than they thought they could be.
Please visit the MDRT Website to learn more about the MDRT/GAMA International Mentoring Program.Become involved today as a mentor or aspirant!

Susan Gallicho Wednesday, July 25, 2007Thank you for your interest in mentoring. The program has seen phenomenal success and it is people like Steve Hammer that keep it growing. I would encourage you to learn more about mentoring by visiting the mentoring section of our Web site at http://mdrt.org/benefits/mentoring/index.cfm.
Locate a Million Dollar Round Table member and ask the member to mentor you. The teams come to the program matched. In Vietnam, your best bet would be to visit with your manager. Your manager will know MDRT members and will be able to help you get mentoring strated.

R.Stephen Ilango, Development Officer, LIC of India Monday, July 2, 2007Dear Steve,
Yes, mentoring is almost like being a 'Role Model', always available to see and to listen too.
The Mentee (I think we can call like this the aspirant) will find all the solutions in his mentor.
As a result of mentoring, the mentor will be growing always as he has to continuously update himself to keep himself a step ahead, so that he can retain the position of mentor.
Sometimes the mentor as a senior could've caught himself into a routine. But the mentee, having no limitations may try out new things and the mentor also may learn from him.
Dear Ravikumar,
It seems that you are from India. Your name looks as a Tamil name. We are mentoring 40 Life Insurance salesmen to become MDRT members. Many of them find it difficult when we present things in English. Can I seek your help and guidance in mentoring these aspirants? I expect your reply. My e-mail id is stephenilango@yahoo.com

Ravikumar Tuesday, December 19, 2006What Steve has to say is perfectly right, as a doctor cannot treat himself, so do we.
A mentor is akin to a parent who would take and give all pains to see that one sets a goal works towards it and achieve it. And therein lies his or her satisfaction.
We all as advisors should look out and take help of mentors.
