The Nuts and Bolts of Seminar Selling

I recently presented an MDRT Web seminar entitled “The Nuts and Bolts of Seminar Selling.”  Because we are all really in the marketing business, conducting seminars is a great way to get in front of a large group of people and be effective.  That is precisely why I do them.

With help from a valuable book, The Excellent Investment Advisor, written by Nick Murray, I constructed my seminar track and made a commitment of my time and finances to seminar selling.  I publicize through direct mail and an effective tool called Friends Helping Friends, offer dinner at my events, and always address the concerns of my senior audience.  With some trial and error during the last 10 years, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t work!

It is also quite important to create a seminar that is uniquely yours.  In order to come across well, build trust and compel your audience members to make appointments, you must truly believe in your messages and never waver.  I find that showing heartfelt videos during my presentations is a great way to capture my audience.  To discover more of my seminar selling techniques please visit the archive of my recent MDRT Web seminar.

Please share your effective seminar selling strategies, especially for those members simply exploring the idea of seminar selling.

Seminar selling is a real great art. But normally many people are afraid to face a lot of people in a same place and address them. Salesmen with the skills of public speaking and who are very good in people management skills alone can do it with confidence. They also afraid if they are not able to answer a question their face may be lost.. So for seminar selling extraordinary knowledge and presence of mind is needed. Even if a small nut here and a bolt there is missed , the seminar selling may end up in a failure. But if we learn the art of placing the right nut and bolt in place the seminar selling will fetch in a great amount of business.

Certain questions asked by audience should be thrown back to them...making the audience themselves to answer.

You may even implant few of your friends among the audience making them ask few positive questions which will clarify certain doubts in the minds of the people which may be irking their mind which they maybe hesitated to ask in a big gathering.

Never ever enter into arguement while presenting a seminar to a participant. You can satisfy his ego by telling sir, I m so happy that you asked such a nice question....shall we discuss personally in length after this seminar?

You can ask the audience to write down the question in a piece of paper and you can filter the questions. You can follow the same method mentioned above by calling the persons name (without telling the question itself).

The real life examples may be brought to the seminar and make them present which will act as a great evidence for what you are telling.

I am a Development Officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India, I am asking my agent friends to organise seminar...but many of them are afraid because of fear of facing a lot of people in one place. I'm sure I'll organise a few seminars soon.
