Everyone Needs a Little Life Support

Take a moment to think about the people in your life.  Who counts on you?  For many, it’s family, friends, business associates or clients.  We assure our loved ones that we will be there to support them, to stand by their side, no matter what life throws our way.

Life support means “anything that creates a viable environment under conditions otherwise incompatible with life.”  As insurance agents, we create a viable environment for conditions otherwise incompatible with life and lifestyle.  We provide the necessary methods, equipment or policies to support and sustain a particular life or lifestyle.

Life support comes in many different forms.  For some of us it’s money; for others, love or peace, time off from work or religion.  Every now and then something happens in your life that makes you stop and think.  For me, it was falling ill and into a coma and then being lucky enough to get a second chance at life.

Since the coma, I have learned that by adopting the following life support rules, you can help prepare yourself and those closest to you, for the future.

Life Support Rules:

  1. Prepare yourself for whatever you think will happen, and especially for the things you think won’t happen.
  2. Make every second count.
  3. Set your priorities, and know what they are.
  4. Create a good first impression.
  5. Never give up.
  6. Keep your faith.

So today, I challenge you to make a difference in people’s lives – advise your clients about financially important decisions and help them properly plan for a secure future, free of fear and insecurity.  Most importantly, I encourage you – as you should encourage your clients – to live life every day, take care of your health and give away all of your love.   As time and life passes, we all need someone to embrace us, and we all need somebody to be on our side.  Everyone needs a little life support.
