As my friend Jim Rogers takes over as our President and I enter my final year as a member of the MDRT Executive Committee, I’ve found myself thinking of the major accomplishments we have accomplished together. In particular, we hosted the Boomertirement Industry Summit, which took place this past April. Through the ongoing Boomertirement effort, MDRT has taken a leadership role in helping our members and the entire financial services industry provide financial solutions to help Baby Boomers overcome their unique financial challenges and maximize their quality of life during retirement. I look forward to helping bring the value and benefits of Boomertirement to our members where they live and work in the time I have left as your Immediate Past President.
We should all take pride in the new world-wide membership standards MDRT has adopted. Using a third party index called purchasing power parity, each individual country will have its own qualification requirements based on the economy of the country relative to the U.S. economy.
In addition, about 40 years of our rich MDRT history has been converted to a digital format and we’ve embarked on a project of making that electronic content available to our members via the MDRT Web site. We’ve conceived this exciting new tool, called MDRTV, out of our genuine desire to bring MDRT to our members and this format of web-based television is another way we’re hoping to meet and exceed those needs.
Lastly, perhaps most especially this year we’ve focused on our “old friends” in our sister associations as we have sought new friends who have members who meet MDRT qualifications.
And while we continue to invest in programs that deliver more value for our members – our financial integrity is sound, and in fact, has never been better.
As I begin my role as your Immediate Past President, I will eagerly offer my experience and counsel to my colleagues following in my footsteps on the Executive Committee. I anxiously anticipate the many great times ahead for the Million Dollar Round Table and its members. Thank you for the honor of serving as your President.
