The Internet is becoming an essential part of our business nowadays. New media such as blogs and social networking sites like Twitter and LinkedIn are proving to be useful tools for many financial advisors. According to a white paper released recently by the Financial Planning Association, “Online Marketing Methods: Planner Best Practices,” 43 percent of advisors reported using social media and/or online networking sites, while 32 percent use audiocasts or podcasts, and 17 percent use blogs. These online methods of communication are effective and creative ways to manage relationships with our current clients as well as attract new prospects. The Internet also gives us the opportunity to increase networking and keep our name in front of clients.
The Internet holds many possibilities for business that were not available in the past. Consider how to take advantage of the potential that new media offers. Although technology may not be a preferred method, it is proving to be an effective one.
