I recently came across an article by the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE) regarding September as National Life Insurance Awareness Month. Actor Chris Noth has been chosen as this year’s national spokesperson for the campaign, and as a result of personal experience, he has some great insight on the importance of life insurance.
Noth’s father died young, but as an insurance agent he recognized the value of life insurance and was properly insured. The proceeds from his insurance policy helped Noth’s family through their grief and enabled them to move on. As the sole provider for the family, it was wise of Noth’s father to consider how he would protect his family’s financial future.
Noth says in the article, “Especially at a time like this, life insurance can be the safety net that catches a family when tragedy strikes. I know from personal experience that life insurance can be the bedrock of a family’s financial security.”
Now more than ever we see Americans struggling. The economic climate creates a great need for financial protection, and life insurance can offer it. It may not be the most pleasant subject to consider, but it can save a family. Noth’s story is proof of how a person who takes the necessary steps to adequately insure themselves will also insure their family’s financial security.
According to LIMRA International, 68 million adult Americans have no life insurance – a very unsettling statistic. The unfortunate circumstances Noth’s family faced can happen to anyone. During Life Insurance Awareness Month educate your clients and the public on the many valuable lessons about life insurance and the protection it provides.
